A great place for a nice sit down seafood meal. Yet still casual enough that you could bring an easily distracted toddler. The food was great and the staff was friendly. Just make sure to plan ahead. Reservations fill up at least a day in advance. And the dinner rush can leave for long waits.
I had higher expectations based on the reviews but left disappointed. The crab dip for $11.99 had more artichokes floating in a runny tasteless cheese dip with scant pieces of crab. The Coconut Shrimp Platter $21.99 looked decent, my son didn't complain. My husband Pacific Grouper dinner $20.99 was good except for the weird tasting lump of mashed potatoes.
I've lived in the area for a long time and had never been there before now. Boy what a wrong move on my part. Bum Rogers Crab House was great. The staff were friendly and the food was perfect. The whole family enjoy our time there and everyone agrees that we'll be back.
Service was good, our waiter was pleasant.
The biggest disappointment were the Nantucket $34.99 and Bum's Famous Garlic Crabs $26.99. They looked impressive but lacked taste. The crab meat had no sweetness at all, unlike fresh crabs ( I've caught and eaten plenty ) so I know what they taste like. One of my crabs had mush instead of meat. The corn was overcooked and the potato undercooked.
One of my go - to places when I'm in the area. I love this place! It has that perfect after the beach vibe. Very casual, no one frowns on you no matter how you're dressed. Very nice sized bar, and ample dining space inside. Can be very busy at dinner time, but worth the wait. The food for me has always been very good...they usually have an interesting choice of specials along with their staple dishes. Highly recommended!
My suggestion would be to stay away from the expensive dishes and stick with the cheaper platters or sandwiches.
